What Does an Admissions Consultant Do?

It’s a question I’ve been asked many times over the past year. After leading admissions at two top global business schools, I decided to shift to the consulting side of the table. Now, I work one-on-one with a small number of clients in each application round, supporting them as they apply to their target MBA programmes.

As an admissions consultant, I draw on years of experience inside business school admissions to help candidates navigate what can often feel like a complex and overwhelming process. Many applicants don’t know anyone who’s been through it before, and the internet is full of myths and misconceptions about what it takes to get in.

My role is to demystify the process and help you tell your story in a clear, compelling, and authentic way. I work closely with each client to understand their goals, motivations, and unique experiences. Together, we craft an application that not only highlights your strengths but also shows how you will add value to your target school, and how you plan to leverage the MBA to accelerate your career and make a broader impact in the future.

Creating a strong MBA application requires deep introspection, and that’s rarely easy. I ask thoughtful questions that prompt reflection on your values, choices, and ambitions. I do this through the lens of someone who has read countless applications and understands what makes a candidate stand out.

It’s also completely natural to doubt yourself during the process. Many applicants do. I see my role as that of a coach: helping you build confidence, see your own potential, and communicate it effectively. Too often, strong candidates undersell themselves in their application or interview. I make sure that doesn’t happen.

The final application you submit will be entirely your own voice and work. My role is to be a guide, coach, and mentor, supporting you at every step.
