How to get off the MBA waitlist
Of course, a waitlist isn’t the outcome you were hoping for when you submitted your MBA application. But a waitlist is not tantamount to a rejection, and there is still a chance that you will be accepted onto the programme.
So, is there anything you can do improve your odds of getting of the waitlist? The simple answer is yes.
There are no guarantees, but here are some simple steps to maximise your chance of getting off the waitlist.
1. Stay engaged with the school. Confirm that you do want to be on the waitlist and respond to any messages they send you in a timely manner. However, you should avoid contacting them too regularly. Make sure that every interaction is meaningful.
2. Send a carefully considered waitlist letter. The goal is to demonstrate your continued interest in the school and to highlight any significant achievements since your initial application submission. Keep it concise; ideally no more than 1 page.
3. Address any weaknesses in your application. For example, could you improve your GMAT/GRE score? If you can work out why you might have been waitlisted and then take action to address it, you greatly improve your chances of getting off the waitlist.
